The Village of Mineola is located in the central part of Long Island in Nassau County. The majority of the Village is located in the Town of North Hempstead. The Mineola Post Office extends south into the adjacent village of Garden City, New York, where the county seat of Nassau County is located. Its name comes from an Indian word and means "Pleasant Place." Mineola has a long history and dates back to 1609.
